Fast Connector (also named quick assembly connectors) allow fiber termination with connectors without time-consuming gluing and polishing. The procedure does no require “sterile” conditions, because the end face of the built-in fiber fragment has been glued and polished by the manufacturer. The low loss at the level of 0.3 dB is obtained thanks to advanced positioning of the inserted fiber end by V-shaped grooves. The optical gel that is also used in the connectors reduces the effects of an imprecise cut and a possible gap between the end faces of the fibers.
Fast Connector is easy to use, but if the operation is not standardized, also will affect the signal transmission. Below will explain step by step.
Fast connector sample – KFC6002
There are many kinds of fast connector in KINSOM, but the installation method is same.
Tools – Fiber Cleaver, Drop cable cutter, Fiber optic stripper
STEP 1. Put the drop cable into connector tail cap sleeve
STEP 2. Strip the cable with outer diameter of 3 mm or 2 mm to the 250um cladding over the length of 50 mm.
STEP 3. Remove the coating layer on bare fiber.
STEP 4. use clean paper to stick alcohol to wipe.
STEP 5. Cut off the bare optical fiber with fixed length device.
STEP 6. Insert bare fiber into the body of fast connector, then fix the cable jacket.
STEP 7. Turning the cable locking latch, and turn on the V-grooves switch.
STEP 8. The last step, put on the connector protective casing.
